GHOUL OR ZOMBIE?

Oddly, in the pressbook for Universal's THE MAD GHOUL (1943), David Bruce in his makeup is referred to a zombie more than the titular character. Jack Pierce reportedly exclaimed "What'll these crazy writers do next?" after he read the script and with the expectation that he deliver yet another memorable monster. What he did was use the cotton and collodion concoction that he had employed numerous times over his career, most notably on Boris Karloff's Im-Ho-Tep.
